Mega blasting at the Malartic site, very close to the city, was possible, adhering to the various restrictions, thanks to the perfect control of the blasting parameters, the use of modern technology such as electronic detonators and digital simulation. Digital simulation based on physical principles offers:
- The possibility of finding the best set of parameters thanks to virtual trial and error.
- An additional degree of confidence in the choice of blasting parameters when the detonation is very complicated or exceptional.
