The main objective in blasting is fragmentation. A reduction in the maximum size of rock fragments to facilitate the use of a crusher is a continuous objective. Frequently, a large amount of very fine particles is produced. These are eliminated during the crushing and screening stage, but a considerable percentage of the deposit is wasted.
